For those of you who travel by train Gar du Nord is located centrally in Bucharest though limited accommodation near station. Appears that many of the cheaper hotels have closed or gone up market. Best option is Hotel Marna for economic, otherwise Ibis and Hello next to station (lots of signage) where Ibis charges EUR69 for room at weekend nights and EUR99 during week.

For rail ticketing, due to system of buying at CFR day before, I would suggest using Wasteels at station. I assume that even on the day they can write info and direct to correct window to buy direct where most have English, or some...

Otherwise Bucharest is fine, cross between Buenos Aires, Istanbul and Belgrade :)
