Hi Brett
I just want to comment on your posting - I can't tell you about the UK rules, but I am in the same position as you, just living in Denmark. Here it's impossible for me to have my fiancé, because of the very strict legislation in this field, so we will be moving to Romania this spring to be legally together. Here in DK it's not enough just to get married - we also want the traditional Romanian wedding, but we have chosen to get married at the City Hall in DK first, just to get the papers in order...
As far as I know, you can get far with $12,000 making your business in Romania. Although Romania is moving fast towards EU standards in pricing etc., it is still cheap compared to DK and most likely also UK.
I hope you'll find some answers and solutions to your questions - and I wish you good luck what ever you decide to do.
Just be happy that you don't live in DK! Here it's hopeless to love a foreigner from outside EU!
Regards,
Kate

Hey there everyone
im after some information and im sorry its a very generalised question, The past few years i have been traveling back and forwards to romania for 2 or 3 weeks every 2 or 3 months to visit my fiancee that i met there when i was doing the travel thing. We have decided that we will settle and live in romania and im trying to figure all the options out, i see finding a job is virtually impossible and if i was to move there now i would maybe be left with around $12000 to start a small business, is it possible on this money? The other option and perhaps the better (money wise) is for us to both live here in the uk for a couple of years to work hard and save harder so we can have more money to set up a better business there (although with the current english economy and the way things are going it might be hard to save and live) any idea on the work permit laws for someone coming into the uk from there, i know that it will work if we get married within 6 months, but we both want the traditional romanian wedding.. Whats your advice or experience?
many thanks Brett
