You can download software (do a google search to read up more) that disables the region code on your PC's DVD player to get around that 5 changes bull. The newer DVD players are multi region so my Panasonic for example, although bought two years ago now in Oz, has no probs playing R1 DVD's from the US. God, they are so cheap now anyway. LOL.

DVDs have region codes. I believe US DVDs have region code 1. Anyway, some DVD players (not all)can play DVDs with different region codes. I need to manually change mine through menu setup. I have set my DVD player to play DVDs from the US and then reset it back to play the European ones. When I played my DVDs from the US using my computer, I got a message that my DVD drive will only switch region 5 times. So i do not know if i can do it after that limit. Dan

Hello Shasa,
It has been my experience the two systems are not compatible because they use completely different formats. You cannot play American DVD's on European equipment nor can you use DVD's that you would purchase in Romania or Europe for that matter, and play them on Equipment purchased in the USA, such as a DVD player or computer with a DVD player.

Can someone tell me if DVD movies made and purchased in the US will play okay on European DVD players/TVs? Thanks.
